Authentication Services

The Secretary of State's Office is responsible for providing authentication services to U.S. Citizens and foreign nationals on documents that will be used overseas. Types of documents that may require authentication are birth-marriage-death certificates, diplomas, transcripts, corporate documents, and adoption forms. Due to the federal requirements for accurate and careful authentication, please anticipate a 2-3 day turnaround time for processing of documents.

Bucking Horse and Rider (BH&R)

The Bucking Horse and Rider (BH&R) is a federal and state registered trademark of the State of Wyoming. The BH&R trademark boasts a rich tradition, for both the State of Wyoming and the University of Wyoming; a tradition which spans nearly one hundred years. This image has become an icon for the entire state and is a valuable commercial image in Wyoming and across the United States. People far and wide have come to associate this image with the State of Wyoming and the University of Wyoming.


Notaries Public

A notary public is a public officer who, upon application, is commissioned by the Secretary of State for a four-year term and holds an office of trust and profit. Because a notary is a public official, he or she is obligated to serve all persons who request lawful notarial acts during normal business hours. A notary is not commissioned for the personal convenience of any one employer.

The Secretary of State is the registrar of rules for state agencies as provided in W.S. 16-3-101. The rules and regulations contained on this site are electronic copies submitted by state agencies as duplicates of the certified, paper copies filed daily within the Secretary of State's Office. For a per page fee, copies and/or certified copies of the original filed rules may be obtained by contacting our office.
